This lesson plan is for 3rd grade math. The purpose of it is for students to be able to subtract whole numbers up to 100 with regrouping. The lesson plan tells a story of Wanda One and Tommy Ten. It addresses the computation standard. It uses bags containing numbers to aid in subtracting. Using people's names to help students learn things is effective, because they can get a visual of these people in their heads. The lesson plan uses an overhead to enhance it. There is a handout to be completed as homework after everything is learned.
This lesson plan is pretty standard. It does not use very much technology. Power points can help students learn mathematics. Since 3rd graders can read well, the teach can both explain the directions of how Wanda One and Tommy Ten works, and have it typed out on a power point so the students can refer to it, as opposed to asking the teacher questions all the time in case they cannot remember exactly what they are supposed to do. This would be considered enhancing the lesson through technology.

Maureen did a great job of explaining why this lesson plan would be enhanced. I agree with her statement that a power point could help the students learn the mathematics instead of a chalkboard. GREAT job. Actually using the bags instead of doing it online would actually hurt the student's learning so it's good that she keeps the bags.
